Al-Ahsa Regional Airport registered a 93% increase in international flights from last year


 
Al-Ahsa Regional Airport reordered a growth in passenger numbers and in the number of domestic and international flights during the first half of the year 2016.  The total number of passengers reached (89,560) on board (1174) flights compared to the same period last year of (53177) passengers on board (717) flights.
For his part, Mr. Mohammed Almejlad Director General of Central Airports explained that the number of passengers in Al-Ahsa Regional Airport who travelled on domestic flights during the first half of the year 2016 amounted to (29,891) on board (366) flights up an estimated 14% from the same time last year where the total number of passengers reached (22133) on (243) flights.
Almejlad pointed out that the number of passengers on international flights have reached (59669) on (808) flights up an estimated 93% from the first half of the year 2015, which amounted to (31,044) on board (474) flights.
This healthy increase comes in line with the development of network of airports in the Kingdom to cope with the country’s economic growth.  This in addition to the steady growth in air traffic and to the growing demand for air travel throughout the Kingdom.
