The Transport Minister thanked the Saudi leadership for creating Investment Units at GACA

His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Mr. Suleiman Al-Hamdan sent his deepest thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his highness the Crown Prince and deputy Crown Prince on the occasion of the issuance of the Council of Ministers approval in its meeting today to the executive program to privatized the investment units at GACA and the partnership projects with the private sector.
Al-Hamdan said that this approval is an important historic decision for the air transport industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as it confirms the keenness of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on the importance of the participation of the private sector in supporting the development process and to achieve its strategic objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.  This is done through active participation in all service, productivity and industrial sector with no exception.  This will undoubtedly contribute to the development of all types of services that the travelers will witness inside and outside the Kingdom.
Al-Hamdan stressed that GACA have put in place a development plan to privatize the major airports in the Kingdom, as well as corporate support services, for example, air traffic and information technology sector and other important facilities.  These units are meant to be financially and administratively independent in order to develop its facilities and upgrade its services in general.  Al-Hamdan also stressed that the legislative side form the operational side, which will help serve GACA strategic objectives through deepening its role as a legislator and organizer of civil air transport industry in the Kingdom.  This step will make GACA stand at the same distance from all the different operators and the people working in this vital sector.  This is an essential stop to support the sector in a balanced and clear way to all involved.  He went on to explain that GACA will work from now on implementing projects according to schedule plans.
