The General Authority of Civil Aviation / Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) signed today a commercial agreement with Abdullatif Jameel Transport Ltd. to build a 5,900 sqm Express Freight Center at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Operations are expected to start in the express shipping facility by 2019. The new FedEx Express center will provide the ability to speed up customs clearance in order to provide service for exports and imports.

For his part, Eng. Tariq Bin Othman Al-Abdul Jabbar, GACA Assistant President for Airports, stressed that this commercial agreement with Abdullatif Jameel Transport Ltd., licensee of FedEx Express in the Kingdom, is an extension to achieve the Authority’s objectives in raising the level of services provided at airports. He also stated that there is high demand on air logistics services in the Kingdom.

He pointed out that these agreements promote the increase of economic activity that will benefit the national economy and contribute to increasing foreign investments and upgrading the quality of services provided at the Kingdom's airports. He stressed that the General Authority of Civil Aviation is working on developing infrastructure at the Kingdom's airports to create sufficient capacity to accommodate the Kingdom’s growing demand on air traffic, and improve the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, which will create many job opportunities for citizens.

“We are proud to partner with international and local companies, which will enable Saudi Arabia in general, and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in particular, to benefit from the enormous capabilities of the global shipping sector and logistics services,” added Al-Abdul Jabbar.

Faisal El-Samannoudi, Vice Chairman at Abdullatif Jameel Investments, explained that the advanced facilities at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh put Abdullatif Jameel and FedEx Express at the forefront of the KSA’s logistics industry, adding that by building our joint facilities, we will be able to meet our customers’ needs from importers and exporters.

El-Samannoudi stressed that the center will provide greater protection for all shipments. The new center will help the company meet the air freight demand growth in Saudi Arabia, which is expected to grow by 5% by 2020 by the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).

FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company, has selected Abdul Latif Jameel Group as a new global service provider in Saudi Arabia as of January 2015, for its international inbound and outbound services to and from 220 countries and territories.
