A unique road network connecting the bride of the red sea to the new airport


The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has been able to provide a distinguished roads network and bridges connecting the main roads in Jeddah with the new King Abdulaziz International Airport.  In the first phase of the project, GACA ensured the development of modern means of transport to connect passengers through the new King Abdulaziz International Airport with the road network and Al Harmain railroad.
 
During the first phase of the new King Abdulaziz International Airport project, GACA succeeded in implementing surface roads with length of up to 36 KM.  In addition to the implementation of bridges with lengths up to 14 KM.   last October, GACA opened Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Rd. which connects the main entrance of the new airport to Prince Majed road and Al Harmain road east and Madinah road west at a length of (5) Kilometers and a width of (46) meters with a capacity of three lanes in each direction.
 
The new road forms a distinctive example of the roads executed in a great engineering manner in the province of Jeddah.  Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Rd. also connects many vital roads in Jeddah to the new King Abdulaziz Airport Project.  This huge project was also linked to Al Harmain railroad station by constructing a train station within the project spanning an area of 12,000 Square Meters, containing two docking stations at a length of (519 meters).
 
The new King Abdulaziz International Airport project includes a parking area for (21,665) vehicles, including a multi-level parking structure that can accommodate (8,209) vehicles, which includes (749) taxicabs and (48) to accommodate buses.  An area also allocated for car rental companies that can accommodate (1,222) vehicles, a long term parking area is also available which can accommodate (4,344) vehicles.  Parking for business and first class passengers is also available with a capacity of (145) parking spaces, while spaces are available for VIP parking that can accommodate (119) vehicles.  Two areas for staff parking, one that can accommodate (1,521) vehicles and the other that can accommodate (2,936) vehicles is also available.
