For his part, His Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa confirmed that the permanent support and follow-up of His Highness the Emir of the Eastern Province for the project and its implementation stages had a great impact on its completion on time, explaining that the airport serves more than a million passengers annually to local and international destinations, and this expansion is the largest in the history of the airport. In turn, His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics noted that His Highness the Emir of the Eastern Region’s patronage of this important forum reflects the interest of the wise leadership and its remarkable keenness to support airports in the Kingdom in general and the Eastern Region among them, stressing the vital role of the airport system in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the national strategy. Transport and logistics services by transforming the Kingdom into a global logistics center linking the three continents, and this reflects the achievement of the most important goals of the national strategy for the aviation sector, including doubling the capacity and reaching more than 330 million passengers annually, from more than 250 destinations in the world, in addition to increasing The cargo capacity will reach 4.5 million tons of goods by the year 2030.”

While His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation indicated that Al-Ahsa International Airport today has tremendous potential, as the airport has been equipped with two international lounges with a total area of ​​2,660 square meters included with two mezzanines, in addition to 10 departure gates. And domestic and international arrivals, and the total area of ​​the project exceeded 58 thousand square meters of development and expansion, and the development work included expanding the passenger lounges, and raising the operational capacity of the travel check-in platforms to 12 platforms for international and domestic flights by more than 40%, in addition to increasing the number of passport counters by 100%. In order to reach 16 platforms for arrival and departure, and included long-term parking lots, which today can accommodate more than 400 cars and an area of ​​​​more than 18 thousand square meters, and the airport today is experiencing a big jump in capacity after expansion work from 400 thousand passengers to one million passengers - thanks to God, All of this work and achievement witnessed today at Al-Ahsa International Airport came through more than one million safe working hours (without accidents) during construction operations, and praise be to God.
