GACA and Elm and Metco companies are the main sponsors of the "Innovation and Cyber Security" symposium

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) participated in the regional symposium on "Innovation and Cyber ​​Security", which was held from the 28th to 30th of January 2020 in the city of Marrakesh in the Kingdom of Morocco.
 
The participation of GACA as a basic sponsor of the regional symposium on "innovation and cyber security" came in cooperation with Elm, a cyber security company and Middle East Telecommunications Company (METCO). Both companies fully believe in the importance of sharing expertise in the fields of innovation and cyber security. Moreover, knowing the importance of cooperation and teamwork among the various parties involved in countering threats  relating to cyber security.
 
The symposium discussed the legislative and legal environment in the field of civil aviation, the contribution of technology and innovation in combating threats to civilian aviation security, and the keys and challenges of the industry in improving technologies against cyber attacks.
 
Participants also discussed the impact of innovation on civil aviation security and a reviewed the latest innovative solutions related to civil aviation security.  This in addition to existing threats and mitigation measures, particularly in cybersecurity related industrial practices.
 
On the sidelines of the symposium, an interactive exhibition was organized, through which GACA participated, in which the latest industry technologies in the field of civil aviation security and products and services related to civil aviation security were presented. The resulting interaction was an opportunity for participants to get acquainted and communicate with manufacturers and service providers in the aviation security field.
 
During the symposium, GACA also presented a working paper in which it reviewed its vision towards the importance of technology and aviation security at a time when the Kingdom is achieving progressive growth in the sector that has managed to exceed 100 million passengers in 28 domestic and international airports. There is a need for GACA to keep pace with this steady growth by making a synchronized technical environment using the most recent global technical standards to increase its aviation capacity and quicken the check-in procedures.  All this is achieved by using the travelers biometric data and benefiting from the experiences of others.
 
It is worth noting, that the regional symposium on "innovation and cyber security" concluded its work on January 30th, and is the first symposium of its kind organized by the Arab Civil Aviation (ACAO) Organization and in partnership with the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), and with the participation of more than 30 international experts, and more than 140 participants  representing 40 countries, 7 international organizations and 15 industrial entities.
