Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation wins seat and membership of the ICAO Global Training Council


The Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation/General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) accomplished a new achievement by winning a seat and membership of the ICAO Global Training Council under the umbrella of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) after winning 40 votes out of the total votes from 91 countries and centers that have voting rights in the international organization.
 
The Assistant Chief of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Central Services, Naim bin Abdulaziz Shabana, congratulated the Academy’s new accomplishment and said: “We are proud that the Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation has won a seat on the ICAO Global Training Council, which is a first-time achievement that reflects the Kingdom's contributions and distinctive importance in the civil aviation world. It also represents a new international recognition of the Academy's professional work and training outputs that comply with international regulations and standards. He went on to point out that the Academy has achieved one of its strategic objectives to have sustainable scientific and global status among its prestigious peers.
 
Fahd bin Suleiman Al-Harbi, President of the Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation, expressed his happiness and pride in the Academy's winning a seat and membership of the ICAO Global Training Council. “My happiness is indescribable since the Academy is achieving one accomplishment after another. After winning six international accreditations and partnerships with international organizations, we are now thrilled to have a seat and membership of the ICAO Global Training Council. It is a major achievement that reflects the confidence of the international organization and member states in the quality of the Academy's training outputs,” he said.
 
“Our nomination as one of the 14 members of the Global Training Council makes us responsible for the development of global training in civil aviation science and presents us with a challenge to raise the level of training in the world, and reflects the fact that the Academy has the potential and competencies that qualify it to compete with the developed countries in the aviation field,” he added.
 
He pointed out that the status of the Academy would not have been achieved without Allah’s will, then by the policies set by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, stressing that the work of the Academy under ICAO’s umbrella is a unique accomplishment that contributes in one way or another to achieving all the strategic objectives which we seek to achieve, especially since the next stage will witness expansion and many transformations in the aviation sector.
 
Al-Harbi expressed his appreciation of the efforts exerted by all the Academy’s employees. “I do not forget to extend my sincere thanks to all the Academy staff from trainers to developers and administrators. The team spirit and efforts they have made contributed to these achievements,” he said.
 
The ICAO Global Training Council comprises 14 member states with full membership in the Advanced Air Training Program. The Council plays an advisory role that aims at strategically developing the International Program in the long run, issuing and handling membership decisions in addition to developing and exchanging training packages among members.
