Civil Aviation signed an agreement with Saudi Post to transfer its operation to three major airports

Today, Wednesday (October 18th, 2017) The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) signed three strategic agreements with Saudi post corporation institution for the next 25 years, for the purpose of transferring the Saudi Post Distribution Centers to the three major airports in the Kingdom. The new centers will be built according to the best international techniques.
 
The signing of the agreement was attended by Minister of Transport Dr. Nabil Amoudi, H.E Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Sawahah, H.E Mr. Abdul-Hakim Al-Tamimi the president of GACA, and H.E Mohammed Al-Abdaljabar the President of Saudi Post Institution. 
 
The agreements was signed between the two parties stipulates allocation of areas of Saudi Post within the air cargo villages at the three international airports (King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King AbdulAziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahad International Airport in Dammam) to transport postal operations in the three main regions (Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam).  According to the agreement, establishing buildings for completing the customs clearance procedures in the rapid transport areas of the shipping villages in the airports with a total area of 5000 square meters per airport, in addition to the construction of the central processing and distribution buildings in the logistics areas at the three in international airports measuring (30.000) square meters in space in each airport. The new center will provide a qualitative shift for the postal industry in terms of time and the growth of electronic commerce of all different types.  Associating with existing and future methods of transport such trains and others, also will facilitate the accelerations of customs clearance operations, increase the capacity of logistical support for trade, and raise the quality of services for exports and imports.
 
H.E Abdul-Hakim Al-Tamimi, president of GACA pointed out that this strategic partnership with Saudi Postal Corporation is an extension of the objectives of GACA to increase capacity and raise the level of services provided at airports with high quality and this is come in line with the kingdom vision 2030. During this agreement, the main logistics areas are determined for the transfer of Saudi Post operations to air cargo villages in international airports (King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and King Fahad International Airport in Dammam), in addition to the logistic airport(Rabigh) near King Abdullah Economic City.
 
He pointed out that this agreement will enhance the economic activity that will benefit the national economy as a whole and contribute to increase in investments and improve the quality of services provided at the Kingdom's airports.
 
Al-Tamimi explained that GACA is currently working on a clear strategy prepared for shipping and logistics.  The main point is to create capacity and infrastructure for shipping, in addition to contributing with various government agencies to facilitate the procedures of import and export at airports, thus to develop air traffic and improve services.  He stressed on the Investment opportunities for all investors in the field of shipping and logistics.
 
The head of the Saudi Post Eng. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Jalbar, praised the cooperation of GACA and its support for the qualitative shift in postal services. He also affirmed the depth of the quality of relationship between the two sides.
 
"Saudi Postal Corporation has achieved a remarkable transformation in its services over the last few years thanks to almighty God and to the unlimited support it received from the wise leadership to be a strong contributor to the progress of the country and to serve its citizens, and pilgrims", he said.
 
He added that " The agreement with GACA is a significant addition to the Saudi Post on its way to upgrade its services to unprecedented levels and to complete its plans to be one of the best post institutions in the world through the areas to be allocated at the three major airports of the Kingdom, and make a capabilities to expand the processing of post and the subsequent procedures of international exchange, such as the procedures of examination and clearance of customs, deposit, re-export and other major operations in the postal industry. This in addition to counter global changes in the rapid growth of electronic commerce, Improve performance, speed processing, reduction of operational costs of the institution, and maximizing investment returns in the coming period. "
 
GACA has designed the shipping villages and the logistics airport to be multi-modes of transport and connected to the air, ports and railways, in addition to being divided into specialized areas for various shipping and logistics to serve all shipments by dividing these villages into multiple areas such (Air cargo terminal areas, express transport areas, customs clearance areas, logistics support areas, packaging and re-packaging areas, and other specialized areas). The air cargo villages at the three international airports provide all logistic solutions for the efficient completion of import, export and distribution operations in addition to the ease of distribution traffic from airports to their cities.
 
GACA works to attract investments, privatize airports and convert them into operation on commercial investment bases.  The signed agreements for long-term investment in all designated areas in the shipping villages at airports by local, regional and international companies specializing in various fields to apply the best of the standards, and increase the Kingdom's global investments.
