Civil Aviation Authority celebrates International Civil Aviation Day

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) celebrated International Civil Aviation Day, which falls on the seventh of December annually, with the aim of demonstrating the importance of Civil Aviation in the national economy and in social and economic development. also highlighting the achievements of this sector in the kingdom through the unlimited support that the civil aviation sector receives from its wise leadership.

The authority participates with the international organizations specialized in the civil aviation sector in celebrating the International Day of Civil Aviation, which coincides with the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation in 1944 (also known as the Chicago Convention).
 
This year's celebration of Civil Aviation coincides with the crisis of COVID-19, which has posed a major challenge to the global air transport sector. GACA has taken all precautionary and preventive measures since the beginning of the epidemic, resulting in the success of many programs and initiatives, including adoption of special aircraft storage programs, granting regulatory exemption to commercial airlines, extension of the validity of aviation employee licenses, medical certificates and work permits, and issuance of a special permit for commercial airlines for operation.
 
The authority continued its supervisory efforts during the coronavirus pandemic applying the highest safety standards in the Saudi aviation sector in line with its regulatory role, The authority also has taken many preventive measures and arrangements to reduce impacts on aviation safety, ensuring safe operation of national and foreign airlines, Air Navigation Services, airports and ground service providers, in addition to supervising the implementation and regulations through the work of inspection tours carried out in the kingdom's scheduled and unscheduled airports to ensure the safety of the operational movement on the airports. , The authority has also allowed the use of passenger compartments of certain aircraft for cargo operations to support the supply chains of medicines and medical supplies in line with technical solutions issued by aircraft manufacturers.
With the resumption of flights within the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, GACA issued the passenger guide, which is a guide framework for passengers that includes a set of precautionary measures and procedures that passengers will go through during a trip in addition to the obligations that must be followed to ensure a safe travel journey from home to the destination. Following the approval to allow international travel for excluded categories, GACA updated the passenger guide, in line with health protocols of this stage.
