Saudi Arabia Signs Record Number of Agreements and MoUs, Holds Extensive Bilateral Meetings at ICAN 2023

The International Conference on Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2023), organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), has witnessed a notable milestone with the signing of 29 agreements and memorandums of understanding. Held in Riyadh from December 3-9, the conference facilitated extensive discussions and featured 56 meetings centred around enhancing air transport services, including bilateral negotiations. The event convened representatives from over 100 countries, international organizations, and a gathering of more than 700 civil aviation experts and specialists.

The signed agreements and MoUs aimed to enhance cooperation in air transport between the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and participating countries, including Italy, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Uruguay, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia, Mali, Japan, Guatemala, The Netherlands, and Algeria.

During ICAN2023, GACA President Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Duailj held bilateral meetings with leaders of aviation authorities and officials from various countries to strengthen cooperation. The discussions covered conference-related matters, mutual interests, economic ties, investment opportunities and cooperation in air transport.

The Kingdom's hosting of global and regional conferences and events reflects the unwavering support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince for the air transport sector. It also demonstrates the Kingdom's prominent role in advancing the air transport industry, ensuring top-notch safety and security and keeping pace with rapid industry advancements.
