GACA Sectors Celebrate 85th National Day

JEDDAH, 5 October 2015 -
Mirroring solidarity and communion between the Saudi people and its rulers, the General Authority of Civil Aviation celebrated the Kingdom’s 85th National Day.
The Authority’s various sectors held several programs with many activities that reflect the love of country and loyalty to homeland, celebrating the stability the Kingdom has been enjoying ever since it had come together into unity under the rule of the late King Abdulaziz and his late sons, through to the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz.
The Kingdom’s international and domestic airports wore a common theme, highlighted by the color green and pictures of King Salman, his Crown Prince and Deputy Crown Prince, adorned with congratulatory inscriptions to the Kingdom’s leaders and its people.
The management of King Abdulaziz International Airport, named after the Kingdom’s founding father, decorated the airport’s two terminals with many pictures and banners, with celebratory writings appearing on electronic displays in terminals and hallways and on the airport’s online social media accounts.
More than 1,000 gifts were given away to passengers, expressing loyalty to and solidarity with the leaders of this great nation, adding to the festive spirit of the Kingdom’s anniversary.
Also, the airport’s new control tower, considered the world’s tallest, was lit green.
At Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, congratulatory notes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince and his Deputy were made through the airport’s public address system, in a show of loyalty to the leaders of the nation.
The festivities also included the display of pictures through large digital displays at all terminals and along the road to and from the airport. Gifts, sweets and roses were handed to members of the public out of booths at the airport’s terminals, and the control tower was highlighted with green-colored floodlights. The terminals were decorated with white-on-green balloons, and several activities were held.
At King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, the festivities began with raising the largest flag in the Kingdom, adorned with crystals.
Many activities were held, including popular performance arts, such as Samiri, Yanbuawi and Hijazi song and dance performances. The staff of shops at the airport expressed their happiness, love and loyalty to the country by wearing white-on-green attire, and the airport’s prevailing lighting was green.
Domestic airports held their own celebrations under a common banner: “One homeland, a promising future.” A celebratory program packed with activities was held for travelers at various domestic airports, who enjoyed raffles for international tickets, coupons to use first-class terminals, and giveaways.
On Twitter, a hashtag titled “our airports bring us together” offered information on domestic airports and how they serve the country and its people.
