The passenger has the right to transport baggage as stipulated in the reservation, including the accompanying baggage in the aircraft cabin and the registered baggage, provided that it meets the terms and conditions of the air transport contract in terms of the number permitted, dimensions, and weight. The air carrier is obligated to register the baggage on the passenger according to the number permitted for each passenger without an increase; unless it is excess baggage, the value of which is calculated separately. The air carrier must provide the passenger with the required registration and disclosure mechanisms, digitally and on paper, in the event that the need arises to deal with the baggage in an exceptional manner, such as additional baggage, oversized baggage, or high-value baggage that requires disclosure. The passenger is entitled to compensation from the air carrier if his baggage is delayed in arriving at the final destination according to the following: A- The equivalent of (148) Special Drawing Rights units, when the baggage is delayed after the arrival time specified in the reservation, for the first day. B- The equivalent of (60) Special Drawing Rights for each day of delay; starting from the second day and with a maximum of (1288) Special Drawing Rights. Cases of loss, damage, or harm to baggage shall be treated as follows: A- The passenger shall be compensated for the loss of his baggage with (1288) Special Drawing Rights. B- The passenger shall be compensated for the damage or harm to his baggage with an amount not exceeding (1288) Special Drawing Rights. C- The air carrier shall be exempted from providing compensation if the damage or harm is the result of a latent defect or inherent defect in the baggage. D- If the registered baggage does not arrive within (21) twenty-one days from the date on which it should have arrived, the passenger shall have the right to request the air carrier to treat such baggage as lost. If the passenger wishes to increase the level of compensation due to the baggage containing valuable or high-value items, he must disclose them to the air carrier and their value before delivering them to him as registered baggage through the forms prepared for this purpose by the air carrier, and the compensation is calculated according to the value declared in the disclosure form. Each additional piece, such as excess baggage, shall be treated independently with the compensation determined in accordance with the provisions of this article. The provisions of this article shall apply to cases in which the baggage is accepted by the air carrier, and then circumstances require its re-delivery to the passenger due to his inability to travel for any reason.
