GACA to Participate in 10th Travel & Tourism Investment Convention

The General Authority of Civil Aviation participated in the 10th Travel and Tourism Investment Convention, organized by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage under the title “Tourism is where industries meet.”

Held under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Prince Faisal bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of Riyadh, and Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Commission, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center on March 26th, the convention is the national travel and tourism industry’s biggest event, in which government agencies and private businesses involved in the industry come together to discuss the challenges facing the growth of tourism investments in the Kingdom.

More than 200 public and private institutions participated, along with 14 exhibitors.

Basem Al-Salloum, Deputy to the Authority’s President for Corporate Communications and Marketing, said that GACA participated with a booth that showcased the Kingdom’s airports and GACA’s finished and ongoing megaprojects, as well as future development plans for airports that would make travel much more pleasant for travelers and visitors to and through the Kingdom.

He added that the Authority’s participation in the convention is a manifestation of its relationship with the Commission, which translates into integration between the two, resulting in achievements on the ground and joint work according to a clear-cut, regimented program to implement many joint projects.

He pointed out that both civil aviation and tourism are major sectors that integrate together for a significant contribution to the national economy, with tourism being the engine that thrusts air traffic around the world.

Salloum underlined the importance of the convention, which tackles travel, tourism, and tourism investment issues, showcases investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s tourism sector, and holds discussion seminars on various issues that concern the industry.

He pointed out that GACA is the government agency responsible for managing the Kingdom’s airports, and, in this capacity, will always contribute to any initiative that helps tourism investment.

In its 10th iteration, the convention aimed to shed light on new investment opportunities through the accompanying exhibition. It also aimed to facilitate deals among national and visiting corporations that would bolster the industry’s national infrastructure and encourage new investment initiatives. It also highlighted the plentiful resources and opportunities available in the Kingdom for investors in tourism.

The convention featured academic and training courses, as well as a ceremony to hand out awards for excellence in tourism for 2017.
