GACA airports sector holds its first annual offsite meeting

The airports sector of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) held its first annual offsite meeting in the presence of the President’s assistants and a number of general managers and employees in the airport sector. The participants were briefed on the local and international achievements made during the last period in the Kingdom's 27 airports.

Engineer Tariq Al-AbdulJabbar, Assistant President of Airports, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to raise the level of airports, discuss how to increase their revenues, and explain their future, as well as enhancing communication between all airport sector employees.

Eng. Al-AbdulJabbar addressed the challenges facing the civil aviation industry, ways to overcome them and what can be done to raise the level of services provided to air travelers at the national level, as well as enhancing the airports' contribution to the country’s economic growth in general.

He also discussed the plan of the General Authority of Civil Aviation to separate between the legislative and operational aspects, as the Authority will become the legislator of the civil aviation side only, while the operational side will be independent of it. He stressed the Authority's keenness to achieve the objectives of the National Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030, especially with the Kingdom’s strategic geographical location in the middle of Asia, and the strength of the national economy.

Over the past years, the Kingdom has achieved record growth in the civil aviation sector, including several developments in passenger transport, air freight, airport construction and equipment, air navigation and surveillance.
