Minister of Transport visits Al-Jouf Regional Airport and Arar airport development project


HE Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, Minister of Transport and President of GACA made an inspection tour of Al-Jouf Regional Airport and Arar airport development project and was briefed on the progress of work currently underway in Arar airport. During the tour, the ongoing work on the Travelers’ Lounge was reviewed and HE Al-Hamdan listened to a detailed explanation of the project that will accommodate more than one million travelers annually. In addition he saw what has been accomplished the new 16,000 sqm hall where the foundation works have been completed, the precast concrete elements are being currently installed and the roof’s metal structure is being manufactured. HE also checked the construction works for the service buildings that have been completed with a total area of 10,000 sqm. Architectural finishing work as well as electrical and mechanical work are currently underway in the buildings.
 
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the work accomplished in the Arar airport development project, stating his pride in the Saudi engineers who supervised the airport’s development project and their efforts to serve their country and prove their competence and keenness to ensure the success of the project that will increase the airport's capacity, noting the Authority’s keenness to raise the level of Arar airport’s operational efficiency to achieve the desired goal of serving the residents of the northern border area.
 
His Excellency explained that the General Authority of Civil Aviation is carrying out a series of development projects in international, regional and domestic airports to keep pace with the continuous growth of passenger traffic in the cities of Saudi Arabia while equipping and developing the aviation sector’s infrastructure to be launched within Saudi Vision 2030.
 
It must be noted that the environmental dimension and achieving integration in all functions and ground services of the airport have been taken into account in the Arar airport development project, while complying with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This project also falls under the works and projects carried out by the General Administration of Engineering Services in the Airports Sector at the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
