GACA President meet with the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA),
Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, met today with the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, in the presence of the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the ICAO, Dr. Bader bin Saleh Al-Sagri, at GACA’s headquarters in Riyadh.
 
A meeting was held afterward with GACA’s leaders to review the sector’s strategy and the Kingdom’s high growth opportunities, and to discuss ways of exchanging joint support between the ICAO and GACA to enhance the civil aviation system locally, regionally and internationally.
 
In a press statement, the Secretary General of ICAO explained that the civil aviation strategy is based on a solid ground of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, pointing to the tremendous work undertaken to double the number of passengers and air freight, stressing that GACA strategy is aligned with the policy of the ICAO.
 
He praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for ICAO’s activities and work, including hosting the headquarters of the Collaborative Aviation Security Program for the Middle East (CASPMID) and the Office of the Regional Safety Oversight Organization in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA RSOO) in Riyadh. This in addition to the secondment of expert staff to the organization, as well as other main contributions.
 
Mr. Salazar said: “The Saudi Civil aviation  is making remarkable progress in environmental matters, and we appreciate the Kingdom's support in this regards”.
 
It is worth noting that the Secretary General of the ICAO toured the capital city of Riyadh, including a visit to Saqr Al-Jazira Aviation Museum. He went on to review a display of retired aircrafts models and took a look at the first Dakota model aircraft gifted to King Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him) from US President Roosevelt in 1364 AH.
