GACA President inaugurates pioneering Air Cargo Security Control Center
February 03, 2025
H.E. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), today inaugurated a first-of-its-kind Air Cargo Security Control Center at GACA's Riyadh headquarters.
The center – seen as unique of its kind worldwide – connects to all authorized air cargo agencies across the Kingdom and monitors their procedures, enhancing air cargo supply chain security via cutting-edge remote inspection and surveillance technologies.
The inauguration of the center is the latest phase of GACA's ongoing efforts to develop its security monitoring system and to automate procedures in line with the latest global technologies. This endeavor contributes to the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by increasing the Kingdom’s air cargo volume while implementing the highest standards of security and operational efficiency in this sector.
The center will function as a unified platform, consolidating all relevant air cargo security entities throughout the KSA, enabling faster decision-making, advanced security measures across supply chains, and flexible cargo movement, while maintaining strict security standards.
By providing technical support for GACA’s Washaj digital platform and direct coordination between related entities, the center will streamline the Kingdom’s cargo and logistics operations while bolstering the global competitiveness of national exports.
Operating a round-the-clock remote inspection system, the center will oversee national air cargo supply chain security through forty authorized agencies across four main regions connected to Kingdom's ports.
The center employs numerous hi-tech solutions to maximize security and safety in the logistics sector, including IoT and advanced risk analytics to track shipments from agency receipt through to airport arrival.
Trained personnel from various national security entities will operate 24/7, overseeing cargo operations from initial data entry on the Washaj platform through X-ray inspections and surveillance cameras at shipping agencies, to vehicle tracking systems, ensuring that all procedures meet the highest global standards.
Through its comprehensive digital transformation project, GACA focuses on the streamlining of procedures and the continuous enhancement of commercial air transport, aiming to improve service efficiency, simplify processes, and ensure secure information exchange as per global best practices.
Going forward, GACA remains committed to advancing Saudi Arabia’s air cargo sector through increased capacity, superior logistics capabilities, and professional services that maximize operational speed and efficiency.
