Saudi Arabia Hosts Steering Committee Meeting of the MENA RSOO

The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, today chaired the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Regional Safety Oversight Organization for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA RSOO). The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, and officials of aviation authorities in member states attended the meeting. This meeting coincided with the Future Aviation Forum, which is held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

 The meeting aimed to follow up on the organization's work and promote and support the safety programme of the organization's member states in the field of air safety control.

 In his opening speech, Al-Duailej said that the MENA RSOO aims to assist member states in designing and delivering training and safety programs, enhancing their capabilities to monitor and supervise air safety, correcting safety deficiencies, and achieving the highest safety standards for civil aviation confirmed by the ICAO.

 Al-Duailej said that the Kingdom's hosting of the headquarters of the MENA RSOO falls within the framework of achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

 ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for convening this meeting, stressing the increasing need to establish regional organizations to monitor air safety in accordance with the resolutions of the 41st Session of the ICAO General Assembly
