17 July 2023

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued its monthly report on the performance of the Kingdom's domestic and international airports for June 2023. This report was generated based on fourteen key performance indicators, in line with strategic directions aimed at improving the services provided to passengers, raising their level, and enhancing the passenger experience at the Kingdom's airports.

King Khalid International Airport, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Abha International Airport, Hail Airport, and Qurayyat Airport all achieved advanced positions in the report. The Authority adopted a principle of transparency in evaluating airport performance, dividing it into five categories.

The first category is international airports with passenger numbers exceeding 15 million annually. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh ranked first in this category with a compliance rate of 82%, while King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah came in second with a compliance rate of 82%.
In the second category of international airports with passenger numbers ranging from 5 to 15 million annually, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport achieved first place with a compliance rate of 82%, while King Fahd International Airport scored 73%. In the third category of international airports with passenger numbers ranging from 2 to 5 million annually, Abha International Airport ranked first with a compliance rate of 100%, while King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan came in second with a compliance rate of 73%. Hail Airport achieved first place in the fourth category of international airports with passenger numbers less than 2 million annually, with a compliance rate of 100%, surpassing competing airports in the average waiting times for departures and arrivals.

In the fifth category of domestic airports, Qurayyat Airport took first place, achieving a compliance rate of 100%, surpassing all competing airports in the average waiting times for departures and arrivals.

It should be noted that the General Authority of Civil Aviation bases its airport performance evaluation on fourteen key performance indicators. These include passenger waiting times in travel procedures, the time spent by passengers in front of luggage conveyor belts, passport control and customs areas, in addition to standards related to people with disabilities, and several other criteria in line with best global practices.
