GACA issues Nov. airport performance report

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued an index for the classification of air transport service providers and airports, based on the number of complaints filed by travelers to the authority in November.

King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Fahd International Airport, Hail Airport and Gurayat Domestic Airport secured top positions in the report.

For transparency in evaluating the performance of airports, GACA divides airport performance into five categories.

In the category of international airports serving more than 15 million passengers annually, Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport came in first with a 91% compliance rate, followed by Riyadh’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (82%).

Meanwhile, in the category of international airports serving 5–15 million passengers per year, King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) led with a compliance rate of 91%, followed by Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport (Madinah Airport) with the same compliance rate, while the KFIA outperformed in terms of in terms of the average waiting time for arriving and departing flights.

Among international airports with two to five million passengers annually, Abha International Airport took first place with a 82% compliance rate.

In the category of international airports with less than two million passengers, Al-Ahsa International Airport achieved a 100% compliance rate, outperforming peers in terms of total average waiting time for departure and arrival flights.

For domestic airports, Gurayat Domestic Airport topped with a 100% compliance rate, surpassing peers in terms of total average waiting time for departure and arrival flights.
