The President of GACA hands over the license of the second freight station to the Singapore company "SATS"

The delivery by the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Civil Aviation Company, Mr. Abdulhadi Al Mansouri, of the license of the second freight station of the Singaporean company (SATS) at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and the start of the station construction work. A step that is considered a qualitative transfer in the allocation and partnership projects between the public and private in the field of air freight.
 
This partnership aims to enhance operational efficiency in the field of air freight, and improve the process of logistical integration at the regional and international levels. This in order to enhance the Kingdom's position and make it a unique regional logistical center, taking advantage of its strategic geographical location as a link center for the three continents.
 
This came during the ceremony held yesterday evening on the occasion of the inauguration of the model cargo village at King Khalid International Airport, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Riyadh region, and in the presence of His Excellency the Transport Minister and GACA Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Saleh  Al-Jasser.
 
According to the license granted, the Singapore company (SATS) will build its cargo terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in two phases, with a total area of ​​60,000 square meters, where the station will be able to handle approximately 600,000 tons of cargo annually. The first phase of the station is expected to be completed by mid-2022. The company will also allocate a cold chain facility specially designed to deal with perishable sensitive materials and one dedicated to pharmaceutical products.
 
The second freight station at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh will be able to handle about 40% of the total volume of air freight in the Kingdom, through the company’s connecting stations in Dammam and Sultanate of Oman and its stations in Asian countries.
 
This license comes in line with the aspirations of the wise and rational leadership in supporting the logistical sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, a continuous follow-up by His Excellency the Transport Minister in supporting the sector by securing partnership projects between the public and private sectors, and to improve freight services and achieve the Kingdom’s vision 2030. This is an effort to raise the Kingdom's ranking in the field of quality of logistics services to the top 25 rankings worldwide.
 
It is worth noting, that the model cargo village at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which was inaugurated by the Governor of the Riyadh region yesterday, comes within an integrated plan aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the air transport sector in the Kingdom. The village is regarded as an advanced logistical platform linking three continents. It has a capacity estimated at one million and 600 thousand tons annually, and an increase of 300%, with a total area of ​​275 thousand square meters. It is also the first of its kind in the field of air freight in the Middle East by providing an integrated area for the establishment of independent buildings for each express shipping service with the highest specifications to finish all  operations in one place and with high efficiency in accordance with the requirements of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
