The Kingdom jumped (5) positions in the Global Competitiveness Index 2019 in the efficiency of air transport services

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in the Global Competitiveness Report 2019.  The Kingdom jumped in its general index from (39) ranking to the (36) position, while managing to make significant progress in the efficiency of air transport services. The Kingdom has made significant progress in the efficiency of air transport services, where it has advanced (5) position in this axis to reach (34) ranking globally after it was ranked (39) during in the previous year (2018).  The Kingdom has also achieved a leading position in several fields in the Global Competitiveness Index, one of which is the transport infrastructure and road indicators (quality and connectivity), the efficiency of train services, and the efficiency of port services. This progress is the highest for the Kingdom in the last seven years according to the report of the Global Competitiveness Forum 2019 issued in October. 

For his part, the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Dr. Nabil Al Amoudi expressed his thanks and appreciation to his country wise leadership, he went on to say that thanks to the leadership continued support, which made this achievement possible.  An achievement that reflects the advanced level reached by the transport sector in the Kingdom. It enabled us to continue with these figures and achievements and march towards the realization of Vision 2030, which aims for the Kingdom to be a logistics center connecting the three continents.

His Excellency praised the progress made by the Kingdom in the efficiency of air transport services after advancing (5) positions in the Global Competitiveness Report 2019.  He pointed to the unlimited support given to the transport sector in general and the field of air transport in particular; from the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince (may God protect them both). Their efforts have contributed directly to the development of the civil aviation system and to the services provided to travelers at the Kingdom's airports, pointing out that the civil aviation sector has received great support for its development projects to become one of the most prominent landmarks of our country.

For his part, H.E Abdulhadi Al Mansouri, President of GACA, said in a statement, that this achievement was a result of the generous support the civil aviation sector gets from the wise leadership.  A leadership that exerted all efforts for the comfort of its citizens and that is by supporting huge projects in the field of infrastructure development for all sectors, including the air transport sector. The leap achieved in the efficiency of air transport services in the Global Competitiveness Report 2019, which emphasize the development and prosperity witnessed by air transport services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the significant growth of the sector in all various fields, and the concerted efforts of all working in the field of air transport sectors.

Al Mansouri went on to explain that the GACA has taken many steps that have contributed to the development of air transport services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and has created the necessary positive competitiveness edge amongst the national carriers.
