Al Duailej: The effective and influential contributions of the Kingdom to the regional and international aviation community

His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has significant and effective contributions to the regional and international civil aviation community. He indicated today’s the challenges facing the international community that require strengthening cooperation. He stressed the vital role that the Kingdom plays in this regard through leading the global response through its presidency of the G20 last year, and its support for the global efforts to confront this pandemic in the amount of (500) million US dollars, and further pledging (300) million dollars to assist the efforts of countries in addressing the pandemic.
 
H.E. Mr. Al-Duailej head of the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the ICAO high-level conference on the coronavirus, which was held via video conference at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, said that despite the economic difficulties, the Kingdom continues to adhere to its great humanitarian and development role in helping the countries most in need, and those countries affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.  Stressing that the Kingdom is the largest donor of humanitarian and development aid at the Arab and Islamic levels during 2021, and one of the three largest donors at the international level.
 
He noted that the Kingdom pays great attention to the civil aviation sector by developing strategies in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, as well as its active support in hosting the headquarters of the Middle East and North Africa Regional Safety Oversight Organization (MENA-RSOO) and the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme - Middle East (CASP-MID), and its support for the "No Country Left Behind" (NCLB) initiative.
 
He went on to say: We are working with our partners in the countries of the region, and the ICAO to activate it in order to unify and facilitate efforts to raise levels of oversight over air safety and civil aviation security in the Middle East and North Africa region.
 
He further reported on the decisions taken by the Kingdom regarding the Coronavirus pandemic and their consistency with ICAO policies in order to achieve the appropriate balance between providing air transport service to travelers without compromising safety procedures. He noted that the Kingdom continues to support international efforts and ICAO policies, through updates and simplification of regulations and procedures and the adoption of the digital transformation and emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. This in order to facilitate business, facilitate access to sustainable development goals, and raise productivity levels, making us more able to face future developments and challenges.
 
His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Duailej highlighted the importance of building a flexible and sustainable international civil aviation system that includes the pillars of social, economic and environmental sustainability in responding to disasters and crises, calling for investment encouragement  in research and development, as well as innovation, adopting technical solutions and accepting their application.
 
Furthermore, GACA is scheduled to present several specialized working papers in the field of civil aviation safety stream and facilitation streams and to participate in the work of the conference, which will continue until October 22.
