The Minister of Transport thanks the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the support given to the ICAO

His Excellency the Transport Minister, Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Dr. Nabil Al Amoudi, extended his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for providing financial assistance of 1 million US Dollars in support the efforts of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).   The financial support was given to assist developing countries, the less developed countries and to the Island States.  The assistant is related to aviation safety and civil aviation security, as well as to support Arabic language in the Organization, which facilitates the work for Arab states to keep pace with developments in the areas of air safety and international civil aviation security.

 

His Excellency affirmed that this support comes the government of the Kingdom belief in the role of ICAO in creating and maintaining the spirit of friendship and understanding between nations and peoples of the world and the role of civil aviation.  A role that contributes effectively in improving the economic growth of countries, particularly in developing countries, less developed countries and island States.

 

 Al-Amoudi indicated the effective impact achieved through the Kingdom's government following the donation by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud by the amount of one million US dollars in 2016, for the "No Country Left Behind" (NCLB) initiative and other ICAO activities.  All in an effort to improve the safety and security of civil aviation in the Middle East and Africa and to promote the development of human resources in this vital and essential sector.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency indicated that this support confirms the interest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the issues of civil aviation safety and security, and its keenness to support the efforts exerted to achieve interaction, cooperation, and integration among countries of the world. It also highlights the Kingdom's impressive position and its influential presence at the regional and international levels, and the pioneering role it plays in the international air transport industry.

 

The donation by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in the amount of 1 million US Dollars was announced during a speech given by the President of GACA to the President and Members of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the ICAO council.

 

It should be noted that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aims to develop the technical principles and rules of international air navigation.  Further, its role is to support the planning and development of international air transport in order to assure the orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world.  Furthermore, to encourage the art of aircraft design and exploitation for peaceful use, promotion of air routes, airports and air navigation facilities for civil aviation.
