GACA President thanks His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for launching the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services

His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Transport and Logistics Services in the Kingdom (may God protect him), on the occasion of His Highness launching the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, which contributes to creating a diversified a prosperous economy and support social and economic development in the Kingdom.

 

His Excellency explained that this strategy, which includes a package of major projects enabling the achievement of economic and social goals, aims to consolidate the Kingdom's position as a global logistic center linking the three continents, improve services and all means of transportation, and enhance integration in the logistics system and modern modes of transportation to support the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom.

 

His Excellency noted the great potential available to the Kingdom to become the fifth globally in air transit traffic, increase destinations for more than 250 international destinations by 2030, work on developing infrastructure and operational processes. Furthermore, increase the capacity in the Kingdom’s airports, support the travel and tourism market and take advantage of the location of the strategic geography enjoyed by the Kingdom. This is as well as improving the quality of services provided to passengers at the Kingdom’s airports through many initiatives and programs that contribute to creating a distinguished service environment for travelers as one of the strategic axes of the civil aviation sector.

 

Al-Duailej stressed that the launch of a new national carrier will enable other sectors such as Hajj, Umrah and tourism to achieve their national goals, and will enhance the competitiveness of national carriers in general and contribute to raising the level of services provided to passengers at airports. This in addition to enhancing the Kingdom's position in the field of air transport globally.  He indicated that the strategy enables the air cargo sector in the Kingdom and increases its capabilities by doubling its capacity to reach more than 4.5 million tons.

 

His Excellency indicated that within GACA’s strategy, partnership with the private sector, activating its role, enhancing its contribution to airport projects and the air transport market in the Kingdom, overcoming all obstacles, building, managing and developing the basic equipment for air transport services in accordance with the latest international systems. Furthermore, benefiting from the huge investment opportunities in the sector, which is reflected in providing distinguished services to travelers according to the latest international standards. This come in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development of the national economy.
