The Transport Minister inaugurates a project to "modernize a fleet of improved fire and rescue vehicles" at Saudi airports

His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Transport Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), inaugurated today at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and in the presence of His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdul Hadi bin Ahmed Al-Mansouri, a project "Modernizing the fleet of improved fire and rescue vehicles",  Which conforms to the highest and latest international standards that aim to strengthen the system of fire and rescue services at Saudi airports.

GACA has provided fire-fighting vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials vehicles according to the latest technical specifications, to contribute to increase the operational efficiency of major aircraft fire-fighting vehicles, raising the level of firefighting protection and effective emergency response to protect lives and property inside airports.

GACA is keen to support and secure the required degree of fire protection at the Kingdom's airports, as the authority adheres to local and international standards related to safety, fire and rescue in accordance with the framework of international interest in fire and rescue services in various civil airports in the world.  The vehicles carries a huge quantities of water and (extinguishing materials), and other advanced devices and equipment, which enables the fire and rescue services to reach any accident, or fire that may occur - God forbid - in the vicinity of the airport facilities within two minutes and not exceeding three minutes at the highest estimate.

It is noteworthy that GACA has sought to qualify Saudi technicians specialized in fire and rescue services in operations and safety in various Saudi airports, as the Saudi Civil Aviation Academy plays the main role in qualifying and developing national human cadres, and provides all skills and modern technologies to develop and train workers in various fields  Civil Aviation in the Kingdom.
