* Arab Air Organization nominates the Kingdom for membership of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) *

In continuation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia international status and its pioneering role in the air transport industry, it was nominated for candidacy in second category of the ICAO. The results of the vote held at the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in Rabat, Morocco to re-elect the Kingdom in the council of the ICAO. Mr. Abdulhadi Al Mansouri, Deputy Transport Minister, who expressed his pride in the vital role the Kingdom plays in the air transport industry, led the Kingdom delegation. He pointed out that the results of the vote confirm the Kingdom’s prestige and influential presence at the regional and international levels. He referred to the Kingdom importance politically and economically, which made it one the twentieth most influential in the global economy.
During the meeting, it was agreed that Saudi Arabian would be one of the candidates of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) for membership in the second General Assembly of the ICAO at its next session being a country that made great contribution in the industry.
The importance of Arab cooperation in the field of air transport industry comes through joint work to unify procedures and continuous communication to achieve the highest safety standards for this vital sector. A sector that is the main engine of many economies in the region. The air transport industry plays a vital role in the economies of countries and has a direct impact on achieving the progress that the governments seek for its people. All of which comes in line with the Kingdom’s vision 2030 for meeting future challenges. The need for joint action between countries in the region as a bloc, through the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, as well as cooperation with international bodies and unions concerned, most notably the ICAO.
