Introduction

The General Department of Safety & Risk aims at civil aviation safety enhancement within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aerospace & aerodrome by implementing the State Safety Program (SSP) and monitoring the service providers’ Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation. It also proactively mitigate aviation risks as well as manages safety investigations. Furthermore, Safety & Risk oversees and enhances the quality of the Safety, Security, and Air Transport Sector’s procedures and performance.

Mission

The enhancement of aviation safety culture and risk mitigation within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia civil aerospace and airports and the assurance of quality application of Safety & Air Transport regulations.

Vision

The enhancement of aviation safety culture and risk management in the civil aviation of Saudi Arabia through a risk-based operation, based on the qualitative application of GACA technical regulations.

Hazard Report Notification (HRN)

The report (Notification) can be submitted by any Certificate Holder, Service Provider, including the entire aviation community is encouraged to file a hazard report valid within the working environment. This includes but not limited to the following items:
 

  • Anything with the potential to cause harm within the working environment.
  • Any condition, event, or circumstance which could induce a potential accident.
  •  Any existing or potential condition that can lead to injury, illness, or death to people; damage to or loss of a system, equipment, or property; or damage to the environment.
  •  A condition that might cause (is a prerequisite to) an accident or incident.

Safety Management System (SMS) Manual Acceptance (Initial/Amendments)

A given Certificate Holder/Service Provider’s SMS Acceptance Application can be initiated electronically by submitting all the required manuals and documents here. GACA Safety & Risk (concerned department) will be notified once an application is initiated and a confirmation of receipt will be forwarded to the applicant. A conventional (manual) review and acceptance process will take place and applicant will be contacted directly throughout the process.
