The Engineering Department has different responsibilities related to civil aircraft registered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, beginning with the acceptance of Type Certificate certificates for aircraft or engines, acceptance of the Supplementary Type Certificate (STC), As well as providing engineering support to other departments responsible for air operators and aircraft maintenance stations licensed by the Authority.
The Airworthiness Engineering is a new division in the Aviation Standards Sector of the General Authority for Civil Aviation. It has been established in 2015 due to the increasing demand for aviation industry development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and based on the recommendations of the working team involved in the development of Aviation Standards Sector. The engineering team consists of a group of qualified Saudi engineers who are qualified to carry out such specialized engineering activities (STC / RDA) with foreign experts for the purpose of technical support and provide on-the-job training. Airworthiness engineering team are also utilizing Designated Engineering Representative (DER) services to make the finding of compliance on certification data and engineering drawings. 

Ensuring that GACA regulations are complied with for aircraft design changes and repairs conducted on Saudi registered aircraft. In addition to provide technical assistance in Airworthiness Issues.

Provide engineering services for aircraft certification and production approval in accordance with the KSA and international standards, and provide technical assistance to ensure the continued airworthiness of Saudi registered civil aircraft.
