Airspace Standards


Airspace Standards department (ASD) is one of the main departments within Aviation Standards sector. ASD is responsible for conducting the certification and oversight of Air Traffic Management Services providers, CNS service providers, MET service providers, SAR service providers and ATC training schools.
The main duties are to ensure that ATM providers, CNS service providers, MET service providers, SAR service providers and ATC training schools are compliant with GACA regulation and meet the highest safety standards.

Duties & Responsability

  • Certification of ATM service providers, CNS service providers, MET service providers and ATC training schools.
  • Conducting oversight tasks through audits and inspections to ensure that ATM providers CNS service providers, MET service providers, SAR service providers and ATC training schools meet and comply with applicable ANS GACA Regulation.
  • Drafting of amendment proposals for ATM, CNS, MET, SAR and ATC training schools GACA Regulation to align the provisions with development at regional and global levels; 
  • Review ATM, CNS, MET, SAR and ATC training schools’ inspector’s handbooks (eBook) and technical guidance material as required.
  • Leading coordination with MoD associated with the planning and use of KSA airspace.
  • Review, asses and approve all technical and operational documentation submitted by ATM providers, CNS service providers, MET service providers, SAR service providers and ATC training schools 
  • Represent GACA in all ICAO and regional events associated with ATM, CNS, MET, SAR and ATC training schools regulatory functions and responsibilities.
  • Participate in the review of Safety Risk assessment reports and documentation submitted by ATM providers, CNS service providers, MET service providers and ATC training schools.
